KYBSL Softball Hall of Fame

The KYBSL Softball Hall of Fame recognizes those KYBSL Softball Players that complete their senior year of High School as a varsity Softball player.

Introduced in 2005, The Hall of Fame is intended to acknowledge and honor the player for their ability and contributions to Kingston Softball. Players that are eligible will have completed their senior year of high school as a varsity player and would have played more than one year of Kingston Softball including at least one year in Senior softball. 
 

2012

Kayla Dickerman
A four year varsity starter at Silver Lake and captain both junior and senior season. Kayla was a great hitter and was the author of her own version of a laser show as she typically produced stinging line drives that she could hit to every field. Initially an outfielder, she moved to the infield in her sophomore year and was a three time Patriot League All Star. Kayla’s potent bat and steady glove led Silver Lake to Patriot League titles three years in a row. A rare three sport athlete, she also excelled in Field Hockey and Winter Track earning 8 more varsity letters and played year round club softball. Kayla’s excellence and commitment was not limited to her athletic efforts. She also was a member of the National Honor Society and was her graduating class Valedictorian.
 
Leigh Hurley
A four year varsity starter at Silver Lake and captain both junior and senior season. Leigh led the team to three consecutive Patriot League titles while earning league All Star recognition twice. Her speed and hand eye coordination aided her in being perhaps the best leadoff hitter in Silver Lake’s history. She was the catalyst at the top of the order that provided the spark for the Silver Lake offense. Equally as critical to the team’s success was her superior defensive ability. Leigh was equally gifted in keeping runners off base with her tremendous range and defensive ability as she was getting on base. In addition to playing club softball year round, Leigh also earned four varsity letters in Winter Track.

Tara Cabral
A four year varsity player at Silver Lake and was a three starter in Leftfield. Tara was a consistent defensive player and major offensive contributor at the bottom of the order for very potent offenses. She contributed to three consecutive Patriot League Championship teams as a rangy outfielder with good instincts and gritty determination at the bottom of the order that produced clutch hits, advanced runners and could lay down the critical bunt when needed. Tara honed her craft as a year round club softball player.


2011

Elizabeth Murphy
One of the best softball players to have come through the Kingston softball program, Liz was a four year varsity starter for Silver Lake at shortstop. She captained the team in both her junior and senior seasons and led the team to back to back Patriot League tiles. Liz earned Patriot League All Star status in all four seasons, was a member of three Patriot League title teams and was a Patriot Ledger All Scholastic her junior and senior seasons . A five tool player, Liz ended her Silver Lake career as one of only five players to ever reach Coach Brennan’s “300” club, which is an accumulation of hits, runs and RBI. She also established the school record for doubles (12) in her sophomore campaign. Liz possess a can do attitude and great passion for the game which is infectious. Liz played soccer at Silver Lake for two years before focusing exclusively on softball as a year round club player.
 
Marlee Haigh
A four year varsity player at Silver Lake and a three year starter behind the dish. Marlee was captain in both her junior and senior seasons and led the team to consecutive Patriot League tiles, three in total, earning All Star status twice. She was also selected as a Patriot Ledger All Scholastic Honorable mention for her senior season. An excellent defensive catcher with a rifle arm, she blocked errant pitches, with great effectiveness and was just as likely to pick off a baserunner straying off first base as to throw them out trying to advance. She complimented her great defensive skills with a powerful bat and was RBI producer hitting in the middle of the order. A vocal leader on and off the field her enthusiasm and gritty play inspired the balance of the team. Marlee also participated in Silver Lake soccer for three years and was a year round club softball player.
 
Maria Battista
Maria was a four year varsity player at Silver Lake and a starter for three years. She provided a powerful bat to the batting order and was a key run producer. For three years she protected the corner of the outfield. A solid defensive rightfielder with an accurate arm, she kept singles from being doubles and turned some sure hits into outs. She clubbed a grand slam in her junior year and was a member of three Patriot League title teams. Maria played soccer at Silver Lake and ran varsity cross country for two year and was captain in her senior year. She had been active in crew for several years.
 
Hannah DeSantis
Hannah was perhaps the first true pitcher to come out of Kingston softball as she acted on an opportunity and took lessons to develop and improve her craft. A three year varsity player she was the ace of the staff for her junior and senior season and pitched the team to consecutive Patriot League titles. In addition, not a one trick pony, this pitcher could hit. Hannah had a solid hitting stroke and often contributed to her own wins with her bat in addition to her arm. She pitched a perfect game vs Hingham in her junior season. Hannah combined decent velocity with ever improved control to keep her team in every game.
 
Olivia Carlson
Another four year varsity player at Silver Lake, three year starter at secondbase, and member of three Patriot League title teams, Liv possessed outstanding range and an accurate throwing arm combined with outstanding speed and excellent bunting ability to complement a consistent swing that made her dangerous at the bottom of the order and was always a threat to steal. She was a three sport varsity athlete as she was a three year varsity starter and senior captain in Soccer earning Patriot League All Star status her senior year. She was also a three varsity basketball player and a starter her senior year. Liv was a recipient of the Silver Lake Athletics 12 season award and the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete award for 2011. She was also selected to represent Silver Lake at the Mass. Celebration of Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Mari Croce
A four year player at Silver Lake and a member of the varsity team her final two years. Mari was a dependable asset off the bench for two Patriot League title teams possessing a steady bat and consistent glove at firstbase. A contact hitter with a solid swing, Mari was ready to hit in a moments notice. A genuine team player with a positive attitude contributing to the team during games and practices and was a year round club softball player.
 

2010

Rachel McKenna
Started at first base for two years at Silver Lake and consistently performed at a Gold Glove level. “Stretch” turned many potential errors into outs and brought a potent bat to the line up as well. Established a Silver Lake record by recording a hit in each of the 21 games of her junior season and was one of the team leaders in RBI. As captain her senior year, she led the team to the Patriot League Championship. A two sport varsity athlete, Rach was a three year starter for the Silver Lake Varsity Field Hockey team and was awarded the Patriot League Sportsmanship award in her senior year.

 


2009

Brianna Cabral
Completed her high school playing days as a varsity player for Silver Lake in her senior year and was an important contributor as the back up catcher and outfielder. Always a team player, Brianna earned the Patriot League Sportsmanship award during her senior season. A two sport varsity athlete, Brianna was on the varsity swim team for three years.
 
Katie Stanley
Completed her senior season as the all time most winning pitcher in Silver Lake history and was a four year varsity starter. Katie was an excellent pitcher that was a better fielder and even better hitter. She established a number of hitting records before she hung up the spikes. She combined excellent fielding at shortstop with a rocket arm and powerful clutch hitting. All the physical skills were matched by a passion for the game, a competitive drive and a very high softball IQ. Katie was captain her junior and senior years and led the team to the Patriot League Championship in her sophomore and junior years. She was a league all star each year and a Brockton Enterprise, Patriot Ledger and Boston Globe All Scholastic recipient.
 
   

2008 

Talia DeChiara
Playing the “hot corner”, Talia was a defensive wizard as she made only a five errors during her playing career. A four year Silver Lake varsity player, she was a gifted defender and solid offensive threat. She earned league all star recognition in her junior and senior years while being selected a Brockton Enterprise and Boston Globe All-Scholastic. As captain for her junior and senior years she led the Lakers to consecutive Patriot League Championships. Talia was a two sport athlete playing varsity basketball for two years.
 
Katie Hall
Played outfield for the varsity at Silver Lake in junior and senior years and was a steady and reliable defender. She continued to improve offensively and was a major contributor in the batting order her senior year. Katie was a valuable member of two Patriot League Champion teams.
 
Taylor Massman
A two year varsity starter as a catcher for Silver Lake, “T” was a force behind the plate both defensively and with the bat. She was smooth behind the plate and assisted on most of Katie Stanley’s career record wins. She was a leader and major contributor on consecutive Patriot League Championship teams. An all around athlete, she was a varsity soccer player for four years.
 
Amy Doyle
An outfielder for three years on the Silver Lake varsity, she consistently contributed as a defender and with the bat, to teams that made a regular appearance in the state tournament and won consecutive Patriot League Championships.  Amy was a versatile athlete, running track team an playing two years of varsity soccer.
 
Alyssa Chenard
She crafted her softball skill on the softball diamonds of Kingston before bringing her skill to the varsity program at Archbishop Williams. An energetic player that was a perfect fit for the catcher position. Not afraid to get dirty, she was a very good defensive player that provided clutch hitting.
 
 

2007 

Amanda Nordby
Amanda honed and developed her softball skills in the Kingston youth program before playing her varsity softball at Sacred Heart High School. A versatile player, she could play most positions. She possessed a solid hitting stroke and accurate arm. A team player, she continued to improve each year and was always a coachable player.
 
 

2006

Katie O’Donnell
Perhaps the best softball player to have ever come from Kingston youth softball program, Katie was a four year varsity starter at Silver Lake at shortstop and captain her junior and senior year. A “Gold Glove” caliber player, she had a cannon arm and great range. An excellent defensive player but she excelled even to greater success with the bat. A powerful hitter with a quick bat she was feared throughout the area and opposing teams often wouldn’t pitch to her. She established school records for homeruns and batting average; earned league all star credentials each year; and was Brockton Enterprise and Patriot Ledger All Scholastic her junior and senior years. She went on to play for SUNY-Stoneybrook on a full four year softball scholarship.

Ashley Doyle
Ashley played right field and was a two year varsity player for Silver Lake. A dependable player with a steadily improving bat hitting from the left side and she contributed to teams that made their annual appearance in the post season tournament. A dedicated team player who strived to be better and always demonstrated a positive attitude. She was the recipient of the Patriot League Sportsmanship award in her senior year.
 
Kristina Borelli
 A three year varsity player at Silver Lake, she was a very accomplished lead off hitter. Combing speed, excellent bat control, and base running skills, Kristina was a reliable threat at the top of the order. She could lay down a bunt or drill a pitch through the infield. At second base she had excellent range and Gold Glove caliber fielding skills. A captain in her senior year she earned league All Star honors and was chosen Kingston Report All Scholastic.
 
 

2005

Lauren Opachinski
A hard throwing pitcher, she excelled on the mound for Sacred Heart High School and was a four year varsity starter. Lauren was a Mayflower League All Star and a Patriot Ledger All Scholastic. She piled up the strikeouts and had excellent command of her pitchers. She fired a perfect game in her senior year. Her pitching was greatly assisted by her own hitting ability and defensive skills.

Ashley Ferrera
Two year varsity starting catcher for Silver Lake and was recognized as the vocal leader on the field and a fiery competitor. Ashley was an excellent defensive catcher who blocked the plate with great enthusiasm, whether it was an errant pitch or a base runner looking to score. She combined an accurate throwing arm with a natural ability to handle pitchers. Ashley was a contact hitter that came through in the clutch, and was able to drop down a sacrifice bunt when needed.

Courtney Struble
She was a two year varsity player at Silver Lake where she played Centerfield and was a fixture in the middle of the batting order. Courtney possessed a strong throwing arm and a powerful bat combined with a dependable glove. A two sport varsity athlete, she excelled in Field Hockey as a three starter earning Patriot League All Star status and Brockton Enterprise All Scholastic recognition in her senior year.

Coleen McKenna
Coleen was a two year varsity player at Silver Lake patrolling leftfield. She combined speed, quickness, and a fine glove with a strong and accurate throwing arm. On offense she was an excellent base runner with excellent bunting skills and timely hitting. A two sport varsity Athlete, she was a star Field Hockey player. In field hockey she was a four year starter, two time league All Star, and two time Kingston Report All Scholastic. As a senior year captain, she earned Brockton Enterprise All Scholastic honors and was selected as the team MVP.
